English Dub Review: Life with an Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated into a Total Fantasy Knockout “A Guy Who Reincarnated as a Fantasy Knockout and a Beautiful Girl”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Guided by Mouria of Ishurna’s Intelligence Department, Tachibana and Jinguji are granted an audience with the king. Thanks to Tachibana’s Charm, the two gain the king’s support. Then, Tachibana and Jinguji end up having a falling out in the middle of a banquet. After ducking out of the hall, Tachibana meets a beautiful young woman who meets his every ideal, but the encounter gets him wrapped up in a huge uproar.
Our Take:
The heroes have arrived at Ishruna! Although, their first day at the royal capital was far from a pleasant experience, thanks to a specific party that they should never mention again. Thankfully, their latest misfortune was overcome by the royal guards, led by Mouria, who understand the heroes’ true purpose. Mouria then brings them to the king of Ishruna, who’s half-naked for some reason. He explains the prophecy through song and is obliged to help Tachibana and Jinguji in their fight against the Demon Lord.
Unfortunately, their stay at the kingdom wasn’t as satisfying as they thought, as their argument caused them to separate again during a special banquet. Tachibana then encounters a girl who’s about to commit suicide until he comes to her aid. However, the girl turns out to be Princess Ugraine, who wants to go with them on their journey. But, of course, her father, the king, refuses to let her leave, just like the other overprotective parents before him. Afterwards, Tachibana helps Ugraine sneak out of the castle, only for the latter to start a rebellion against her father.
The episode features yet another crazy female character who’s putting a damper on the heroes’ quest with her own absurd agenda. However, unlike Telolilo, Princess Ugraine doesn’t offer much in the comedy regarding her formulaic personality. Instead, it showcases that Ugraine has been stuck in the palace since her mother died, which explains the king being an overprotective father. Additionally, she got Tachibana to believe that he wanted to impress Jinguji all along since Jinguji isn’t an easy guy to please.
Although, I would say that I was a bit surprised to see Ugraine forming a rebellion with Tachibana by her side. So maybe we might get something interesting from the princess in the later episodes. This shocking revelation is undoubtedly fitting for the show’s craziness in the isekai world, even though its “overprotective parent” cliche is challenging to ignore. The chemistry between Tachibana and Jinguji remains hilarious, with the best part being Jinguji freaking out over Tachibana’s fancy dress. I also enjoyed the king’s odd appearance and comical moments, especially when he shouts. There are only three episodes left in the season, so there’s no telling what other shenanigans might happen next as the heroes take on the princess’s rebellion.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
