English Dub Review: Engage Kiss: “Third-Party Demon Killer”
Overview: A nun with insane brutality and combat ability on the loose in Bayron City and looking for Shu (Howard Wang) and Kisara (Kayli Mills)
Our Take: The entire intrigue of this episode hinges on the hyper violent and fierce demon slayer in an unknown female nun. Thankfully though, that plays to its core strength in all the excitement and worldbuilding she brings along for the ride into Bayron City.
Kisara’s anger at Shu and Ayano’s intimacy is highlighted but so is the crux of the situation in her unwarranted anger at someone who has no recollection of committing any wrongdoing. Although, if “wrongdoing” involves a steamy night with Ayano, then I do not want to be right. As for the pretty blonde assailant clad in holy robes, she hails from a worldwide organization that helps people in need but doubles as an exorcism group. It builds up the international scope of the organization with a seedy underworld strongly reminiscent of John Wick in how it captivates.
The nun’s fight with Ayano is fit with stunning animation that beautifully characterizes enthralling hand-to-hand combat. It is an engrossing thriller as she goes from target to target, trying to figure out the whereabouts of Kisara and Shu, the latter of which she has a mysterious connection with. She is brutal as she is clever in slyly taking Ayano’s phone, after deducing her connection to Shu, and tracking him down with it. When everyone finally does rendezvous, her wiping the floor with Shu just proves how much of a powerhouse she is who also shares a history with him that he does not remember. Her name is Sharon and her past in tracking down and capturing Kisara with Shu in their initial introduction is interesting. During the flashbacks sequences, while Shu’s intentions meeting Kisara are clear in helping his family, his former allegiance with the crazed nun creates many questions leading into how they all met, originally, in the next episode.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
