English Dub Review: Don’t Hurt Me, My Healer! “So, this is Part 2 of the ‘What Story is This?’ arc…”
Overview:
The party comes across a treasure chest. Later on, they run into a cyclops.
Our Take:
Alvin and company are walking alone when they see a treasure chest. Naturally, Carla wants to open it, but Alvin is more cautious. Anna assures him that the chest is not trapped. However, Alvin falls into a hole right in front of the chest. He’s not stuck in it long though.
When Carla opens the chest, Alvin spooks everyone and the chest turns out to be a mimic. The mimic is upset because its prank was ruined, but Carla says this was just a rehearsal. They try it againa dn Carla ruins it this time by spewing nonsense.
Later, the party runs into a cyclops. The cyclops hits Alvin as he’s protecting Carla. Carla calms her down by having girl talk with her. She also manages to heal Alvin’s injured arm. He’s surprised that she can use real healing magic and frankly, so am I. He them compliments Carla and she fails to do so. She also fails to thank him for protecting her.
Afterwards, a girl comes and says her village is in danger. A vicious sorcerer is attacking and the next episode will be the “epic” battle.
This episode has its moments, but it still drags unfunny jokes on for far too long. Alvin spent probably close to five minutes in real time stuck in a hole. I was so bored during this gag. I’m also tired of every other character constantly scolding Alvin for doing basically nothing wrong.
I also don’t like Carla’s inability to say anything nice to Alvin directly. Again, she has before, but she barely even tries now. Random note, but I don’t like Ryoko’s voice in the dub. She has a stereotypical Minnesota accent and it’s just so distracting. As for Ryoko herself, I was entertained during her little Whack-a-Mole game in the background.
I’m not looking forward to the battle coming up because I feel like it’ll be a bunch of nonsense. Only time will tell, but I hope the season finale will at least be decent.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
