Season Review: I Am Groot Season One
I remember shortly after Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd was released, Jim Carrey did an interview with someone (I tried finding it, but couldn’t, if someone wants to comment with the link, please do) where he was asked what he thought of the idea, and his note was along the lines of, “I imagine a fat guy in a suit sopping up all the gravy I had left behind”, and I can’t help but think that’s how James Gunn feels when he sees shit like this comes out.
Enter, I Am Groot. A shorts series comprised of five Mickey Mouse like bits where we are supposed to forget how useless this idea is in favor of a cute character. Directed by Kirsten Lepore and featuring the voices of Vin Diesel as the titular character, who is later joined by Rocket (voiced by Bradley Cooper), we get five shorts that follows Groot into the exciting madness that comes with being replaced by other plants, taking a bath, or whatever other lame gags that could be though of.
This is a cash grab, plain and simple. Disney+ doing whatever they can to keep James Gunn-created characters involved until he ends his Disney career in favor of hopefully doing more horror films. Steer clear of this shit because if this is the type of nonsense Kevin Feige has in mind in favor of cancelling Hulu’s Marvel animation slate, then I’m not onboard.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
