English Dub Review:Lucifer and the Biscuit Hammer “Asahina Hisame and Shinonome Hangetsu”

Overview

Yuuhi and Samidare meet the Dog Knight, Shinonome Hangetsu, and grow closer to him, but Yuuhi grows very wary after watching him easily defeat a golem by himself with his power. Meanwhile, Samidare’s father returns as Hangetsu is making moves on Hisame…


Our Take

After encountering that relatively new character Hangetsu and his talking dog friend, we got much more of him this episode after just a small bit before. He’s pretty much a wacky goofball with crazy amounts of strength. If he can hold off Samidare with ease through that whole training he must be very strong. Defeating that golem alone once again right in front of Yuuhi.

The rest of the episode with Hangetsu taking interest in Samidare’s older sister and wanting the hook up with her also excelled in laughs. The dude is relentless as he is strong, wanting to know everything about her. And this is juxtaposed to Yuuhi’s wariness towards him which doesn’t seem to be misplaced though. It’s easy to think they Yuuhi is just distrustful towards Hangetsu like his grandfather wanted him to be all those years but that’s open to interpretation…

The animation was nice and colorful as usual. And as a newly introduced character, I think Hangetsu is likable and fun but there’s also that part that makes me wonder about his motives. Hangetsu is much stronger than Samidare, who’s the strongest person Yuuhi has seen thus far, which means Hangetsu could turn on them both at any moment. Someone with that much power who we’ve just met is a wildcard at this point…
