Review: The Casagrandes “Phantom Freakout”

Overview (Spoilers Below):

Ronnie Anne and the gang are going to be in 12 is Midnight’s new music video, but things go awry when a ghost wreaks havoc in the concert hall.

Our Take:

This latest Casagrandes two-parter has Ronnie Anne, Sid, and the others getting caught in a ghostly situation in an old Great Lakes City Concert Hall. This seems like an odd way to provide a spooky-themed episode so early on the Fourth of July weekend. However, that doesn’t make it even less fun with its creepily amusing plot.

Much of the humor consists of Ronnie Anne and Sid saving their favorite pop band from a phantom. With the help of Lincoln and Clyde and their ghost gear, they confront the ghost who plots to trap the members of 12 is Midnight inside the instruments. They eventually discover that the ghost is a famous classical musician named Narciso Grillo. Narciso has been driving every modern pop band out of the concert hall for years, including Mabel’s, to allow classical music to reign supreme in the building. The gang then shows Narciso that 12 is Midnight can play more than just pop music.

Overall, “Phantom Freakout” is another entertaining half-hour special in the show’s third (and possibly last) season. Its plot offers plenty of spooky levity in its Ghostbusters-themed concept, and the appearance of Lincoln and Clyde from The Loud House is a pleasant way to connect the two shows. Plus, the band’s latest song, “Classic Magic”, is another catchy tune worthy of being a part of the show’s musical collection. It still would’ve been appropriate for the episode to premiere close to Halloween to fit its ghost-busting storyline, but what can you do?
