Report: Adult Animated Comedy “Uptown Bodega” In Development
As we speak, HBO MAX is removing adult animation titles like JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales, Dream Corp LLC, and Final Space from e-tailers like iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, and Vudu but despite all of that there are still producers that pick the streamer in competitive situations (according to Deadline).
This one is called Uptown Bodega and HBO MAX just won the development rights to the series that’s written by Oz Rodriguez (also an EP with Greg Walter) and Lemon Andersen plus Peter Murrieta is supervising the script . The series, Uptown Bodega, centers on Tati Cruz who has inherited her father’s old Bodega and vows to keep the business booming in a fast-changing Nueva York with the help of her husband, three kids, and Rocky the bodega cat.
The interesting thing here is that HBO MAX and Universal Television are co-producing the series, which is a rare co-prod for the streamer and could be a potential roadblock for a pickup given that streamers are continually leaning less on co-prods and more on in-house productions.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
