NEWS: Adult Animation In Development For FX Networks, Cartuna, And More
FX Networks is developing an animated adaptation of Dan Bethel’s comic series Long John. Stacey Sher and Floyd County Productions are producing.
The Western-themed comic book series follows a bounty hunter exploring his patriotism, a comic that was first conceived in a dream.
Actor Chris Pine has optioned Long John via his production label, however, no announcement of the Star Trek actor will take on the lead voice of the upcoming series. This news comes as FX Networks has recently announced premiere dates for Archer season 13 and its new franchise Little Demon.
Australia is one of the hottest locales in which to source adult animation talent for international use. Networks like Adult Swim, Hulu, Roku Channel, and others have featured adult animation produced by Australian natives and it looks like we have a new producer we might have to keep an eye on.
Enter Anthony O’Connor, who has announced that an animated adaptation of Straya is currently in development for episodic television. Anthony has teamed up with producer Jonathon Green and director and animator Robertino Zambrano to produce the sci-fi tale that takes place in a post-apocalyptic Sydney featuring the character of “Franga” trying to keep his friends in makeshift family alive.
No attached stars have been announced yet, however, the producers tease more partnerships will be announced in the future.

Cartuna has announced that they are developing an animated adaptation of popular Instagram cartoon Coolman’s Universe from Danny Casale. The series will be animated and produced by James and Adam Belfer and will star one of the featured characters from Coolman’s Universe, Spesh.
Coolman’s Universe features a number of NFT’s and art work from Casale, but this will be the first time he’s developed a full-on animated adaptation of his work other than his breakout short Snakes Have Legs.

"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
