English Dub Season Review: Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It r=1-sinθ Season Two
Overview:
Following the events of their trip to Okinawa, Saitama University graduate students Shinya Yukimura and Ayame Himuro have failed to obtain the data necessary to prove their love for each other scientifically. Unable to replicate the exact conditions of the trip, the two stubborn scientists decide to seek help from elsewhere in the university—the Biological Sciences department.
Our Take:
The first thing I have to discuss when it comes to this anime is the late Billy Kametz. He was the original dub voice for Yukimura and this was one of the second shows I heard him in. When this and The Rising of the Shield Hero got a second season I remember thinking, this would be the Spring of Billy. Unfortunately, that wasn’t meant to be. It feels like losing a great friend but luckily we have all of his past work to remember him by.
Having said that Alejandro Saab does such a great job with the role that it made the transition easier. There were times I could have sworn that it was Billy honestly, so a big thank you to Alejandro for doing his best in a situation that I am sure was not easy. Avrielle Corti returns to play Himuro and I wish she got more roles because I love her voice. I think this might be her only anime role so we should enjoy it if we get a season three.
From a story standpoint, we got a lot of progress but the last episode was a bummer. I don’t really think we needed a love triangle but having Kanade get a little more screentime was nice. I felt like she was underutilized in the first season so it was nice that she got a little more agency. What wasn’t nice was the predicament she found herself in.
I have never heard the word “assault” thrown out so much. It was really uncomfortable and made for a really awkward tone shift for the show. But then Yukimura showed up and it kind of became a comedy again but it’s kind of hard to go back after that. The last episode was a huge problem for an otherwise fun series. Some new characters got introduced but never really amounted to much. Maybe that will come up more if there is a third season.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
