English Dub Season Review: Kaguya-sama: Love is War Season Three

Overview:

The elite members of Shuchiin Academy’s student council continue their competitive day-to-day antics. Council president Miyuki Shirogane clashes daily against vice-president Kaguya Shinomiya, each fighting tooth, and nail to trick the other into confessing their romantic love. Kaguya struggles within the strict confines of her wealthy, uptight family, rebelling against her cold default demeanor as she warms to Shirogane and the rest of her friends.

Our Take(Spoilers Ahead):

It finally happened folks! They confessed and I think they did it simultaneously so who knows who confessed first right? What makes this anime great is how fantastic the characters are and with this being the third season we have come a long way with them. Hopefully, we get to go a lot further with them.

One of my favorite things about Kaguya-sama is how much it reminds me of a sitcom. There’ a lot of recurring jokes and the characters that get introduced just make them better. But like any good sitcom it knows when it needs to be serious as well.

I know I have mentioned the characters multiple times but that is truly where this anime stands out. Yes we all love Kaguya and Shirogane but as more and more episodes come out we get to see more of the other student council members. I absolutely love Ishigami and his obliviousness this season is a big standout. Iino gets a lot more screentime this season and while she can be annoying her charm makes up for it.

You can’t do a season review of this anime without mentioning how awesome Clifford Chapin is. He stood in as Miyuki Shirogane for the entire season because Aaron Dismuke had to get vocal rest. I am not sure if they will go back and re-dub this season at all but I would imagine not. If it had just been a few episodes then maybe. Clifford did an amazing job as well so it would be a shame if that was negated.

Kaguya-sama: Love is War will undoubtedly go down as an anime classic. Like typical romcom anime it does take a long time for the main couple to go anywhere but the comedy in-between is so good that you won’t mind at all. I hope we get another season, I have heard that we are getting a movie I just hope it doesn’t end after that. What I am basically saying is that you need to watch this if you consider yourself an anime fan!
