English Dub Review: The Great Jahy Will Not Be Defeated! “The Great Jahy Can’t Go Back!”

Overview:

The Great Jahy has begun living on Earth. The power and influence she had as the Dark Realms’ second in command are nowhere to be found. Her life consists of living in a tiny apartment and scrounging up her living expenses while working at a bar. While her boss is friendly, and outright considerate even, the landlord of the apartment is anything but. Every time they meet, she demands that the already late rent be paid. Today too, a fierce battle between them is unleashed.

Our Take:

I watched a couple of episodes of this last fall when it aired and it was fun but I got caught up in other things so I am excited to cover it now that the dub is airing. What is really exciting about this is that it shows that Crunchyroll is willing to go back and dub shows from previous seasons so I really think we are going to be getting more and more dubs. So far the Funimation/Crunchyroll merger has been mostly positive for fans in my opinion.

As for the show, it has a rough but cute start. It’s a little weird with the main character going back and forth from an adult body to essentially that of a child. It’s an anime cliche but one that can get to be a little too gross in my eyes. But the premise behind the story with Jahy trying to regain her power all while working a normal 9-5 is prime for shenanigans and I think it could be good. It just might need to get a little head of steam first.
