English Dub Review: The Executioner and Her Way of Life “At the Evening Ball”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
As Momo and Menou unearth the source of monstrine, Akari takes matters into her own hands. But there is more to the mysterious Manon Libelle than she bargained for…
Our Take:
Menou and Akari were cordially invited to a special ball courtesy of Manon Libelle. Although, it’s pretty evident that they’re not here to socialize. Instead, Menou uses the ball as an opportunity to prevent Manon from turning more people into monsters with her monstrine substance.
But, of course, like Menou’s previous assignments, this one isn’t without a few obstacles. One of them is Ashuna, who challenges Menou to a duel while she’s searching for evidence implicating Manon’s monstrine production. Ashuna has been a thorn on Momo’s side for a few episodes, angering her at every turn. This episode switches gears by having Menou deal with Ashuna’s meddling this time. It does come at the worst possible time for the executioner, but the fight between Menou and Ashuna was pretty cool to witness regarding its animation.
Meanwhile, Momo finally discovers the source of the monstrine while infiltrating the facility: a young girl in an iron maiden. However, her rescue attempt came with a cost, as it triggers an explosive trap that puts Momo out of commission due to a poisoned spike. On the bright side, Momo’s discovery is what Menou needed to put Manon and the Fourth behind bars.
While all this is happening, Akari has her own problem to handle. She realizes that the events in the current timeline occur differently than the others. In a shocking turn of events, she figured that the only one who knows why is Manon, who knows that Akari is a Lost One. What’s surprising about it is that Akari is confronting Manon in the castle while the authorities lay siege to the island.
“At the Evening Ball” is quite the party to remember, with the duel between Menou and Ashuna being the episode’s highlight. But it isn’t without a few more troubling misfortunes. Momo is forced to sit on the sidelines, and Akari is seeking answers from the woman who’s out for blood. How long does this Lost One have until the authorities storm the castle? Only time will tell in next week’s chapter of this passable series.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
