English Dub Review: Parallel World Pharmacy “Master and Apprentice”
Overview:
Farma tells Ellen he wants to continue their lessons after what happened last time. Farma also continues honing his skills on creating medicine.
Our Take:
It’s been established that Farma has incredible powers. This is when he starts putting them to the test. He creates medicine that he gives to Ellen in an attempt to reconcile. She still thinks he’s the reincarnation of a deity, but she agrees to keep teaching him how to hone his divine arts.
Farma uses his skill to see people’s ailments on all of the servants. He then uses his creation skill to create medicine for all of them. He does the same to create medicine to cure his sister, Blanche, of the chickenpox.
There’s a lot about this episode that entertained me and intrigued me. First of all, I really like Ellen. She’s hilarious and intelligent. She works hard to teach Farma how to use his divine arts and she’s patient with him. These two are building a great student teacher relationship and it’s nice to see.
I’m intrigued seeing Farma create medicine because he creates medicine more closely related to what was used in his previous life’s world. In this world, medicine is created in the form of potions as opposed to pills or powder.
Not only that, but Lotte tells Farma that commoners don’t get medical exams. Even if they did, they can’t afford the medicine. The medical system in this world is based on class, so the commoners are forced to live in pain and sickness. Farma wants to make medicine that everyone can have access to. This is an admirable goal and it’s also similar to what he was doing in his past life.
Speaking of which, it’s been established that Kanji Yukatani’s sister died as a child. Farma also has a younger sister: Blanche. Farma takes care of Blanche while she has the chickenpox, but Blanche notices farma is acting different than he used to. She likes this change though, and it’s building a great bond between the two siblings. Plus, Blanche is sweet, adorable, and funny, so that’s also a plus.
Finally, I noticed that Farma’s father starts coughing in this episode. It’s safe to assume that he’s sick, but I wonder just how sick he is. I’m sure that will be a major plot point in the future.
Overall, this episode has a lot of great character and world building. I find it fascinating watching Farma create medicine and speak in pharmacological terms, even if I don’t always understand what they mean. This show is very interesting and I’m all in for the ride.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
