English Dub Review: Classroom of the Elite “Remember to keep a clear head in difficult times.” ; “There are two main human sins from which all the others derive: impatience and indolence.”
Overview:
With the island test over, Ayanokoji Kiyotaka and the others are enjoying their summer vacation on a luxury liner. Suddenly, they’re interrupted by a new special test. Ayanokoji is called into the same room as Karuizawa Kei and others, where they learn that this test isn’t strictly along class lines…
With Day 1 of the “thinking” test over, Ayanokoji is talking to Hirata and the others about a way to break out of the stalemate when he receives a message on his phone from an irritated Horikita. Meanwhile, noticing something strange about Karuizawa’s behavior, he seeks information from Horikita, but…
Our Take:
After a five-year summer break, class is finally back in session. It seems like this is the season for ending long anime droughts. You have this and the second season of The Devil is a Part-Timer returning this season. I was fairly certain they would both get dubs, now we just have to wait for Devil.
I honestly feel like most of the students in this show are more like a devil than anything. Ayanokoji more than any of them. The way the first season ended made the wait unbearable, we finally got a glimpse into the monster that is Kiyotaka Ayanokoji. He’s been playing the long game and I’m excited to see where it goes this season.
The voice work in this is fantastic. Hot off her role as Yor Forger in Spy x Family, Natalie Van Sistine fills in for Felicia Angelle. I’m not sure why she is out but I hope she returns, though I had a feeling Natalie was going to blow up after the success of Spy x Family. One of the more unique things about this show is just how different Justin Briner is as Ayanokoji. I always think of him as Deku but this role is one of his best and I am glad most of the cast is the same as in season one.
There’s a whole new test going on and it’s going to test everyone’s critical thinking. This anime is essentially just non-stop 4-D chess from everyone involved. But that is what I love about it and can’t wait to see how Ayanokoji comes out on top of things.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
