Review: Interrogator “One for the Road?”
Okay, here’s my one sentence review this week:
Episode five of Interrogator, “One for the Road?,” is a god damn banger.
What we got this week was something I’ve been needing for a while for Interrogator. I love the little history nuggets of lore that keep getting dropped in Interrogator. This week, you learn that the person Bellona killed was the governor of this planet. And since his death, the planet has gone straight to hell. There’s a lot less to unpack this week compared to previous episodes. Originally, I thought “One for the Road?” was nothing more than a transition episode to get the viewer to something next episode. Thankfully, “One for the Road?” hand delivered some god damn bangers this week. And I am all for it.
The subterfuge taking the dead former friend/ally of Jurgen and Baldur, and turning Bellona into something more dark and morally grey is a nice touch. If Bellona was a straight-laced character, that makes the loss too cliché. The added depth of her heartlessness was needed. Seeing Bellona take the extreme measures that their cohort too to ensure fear in the other Houses of the planet definitely did something to make Bellona infinitely more interesting than she was during the final scene of the first episode.
Watching Jurgen see his moral dilemma during this cut scene kind of shows the reason I think he turns to heavy drug use. Or, it could be that he’s trying to dullen the pain of being a Psycher. Bellona apparently kept them in a pod farm for harvesting, like humans in The Matrix. This entire plot goes deeper than I thought, and it just keeps rolling downhill. The momentum we get from “One for the Road?” with the lore that keeps dropping, has me thinking. It has me wanting more. No, I spent the last four or five reviews harping on how awful the release schedule is. But thankfully, Games Workshop has rectified this situation with some huge info dumps.
From front to back, “One for the Road?” is a lot info and background packed into a small packet. I can’t speak for everyone, and I don’t try to. This is something Interrogator needed since coming back from hiatus last episode. The perfect spot for this type of episode was right before a break, so the viewers have time to digest. I’ll tell you what, though, I’ll take it. We’ll get a new episode in a couple weeks, and that should be enough time for me to think of where we’re going. Games Workshop, please can we get more episodes like “One for the Road?”? Please? I want to know more about the world you’ve created here and the people in it.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
