English Dub Review: Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club “The Past, the Future, and Now”

Overview:

The girls in the club are contemplating making the club official, as well as the club’s future in general.

Our Take:

It’s time for the club to start thinking about their future. They have to prepare for their exams, but they also have to decide if they want the club to become official. If they do, they can get a bigger room, bigger budget, and the ability to compete in bigger competitions. That’s not a hard decision though, as they agree not to.

Some members keep thinking about the club’s future and in Karin’s case, her future after she graduates. She talks with the other third years about this and they tell her to focus more on the present and less on the future.

Setsuna and Shiroiko also look toward their futures. Setsuna says she’s not going to run for student council president again, but Shioriko decides that she is.

Toward the end of the episode, Karin comes up with the idea to put on a First Live! show. The rest of the club is excited about the show and want to go forward with it.

I don’t want to say this episode is uneventful because it does establish the next move for the club. That being said, it doesn’t feel extremely impactful.

It’s great to see that some of the girls know what they want their next steps to be. it’s also great that the club is going to put on their own big show. Outside of that, nothing big happens. This episode is more of a setup to a big moment and it does that well.
