English Dub Review: Love After World Domination “Everybody Has a Secret or Two”

Overview (Spoilers Ahead):

Fudou is being blackmailed with a picture of him and Desumi. Later, Fudou, Desumi, and Haru all study together.

Our Take:

At the end of the last episode, we saw someone sneak a picture of Desumi and Fudou together. Fudou is now being blackmailed with the photo. The person who blackmails him tells him to break up with Desumi among other awful requests, but Fudou refuses all of them.

When he tells Desumi what’s going on, Desumi believes this person is in love with Fudou. In reality, she is actually in love with Desumi. The blackmailer actually turns out to be Anna Houjou, who is Desumi’s classmate, bully, and she’s also Gekko’s Heat Princess. Although, Desumi doesn’t know about that last part and neither does anyone else.

In the second half of the episode, Haru asks Fudou to help her study. Desumi feels left out, so she pretends to need help too. Desumi takes the two to her dorm, which requires them to dress up like Gekko henchmen. Fudou and Desumi both try to tutor Haru, but she doesn’t understand either one of them. She ends up going home, which leaves our favorite couple together alone.

They start talking about college and their future plans. Fudou wants to be a teacher and Desumi just wants to be by his side all the way. She mentions that her father would probably disapprove and coincidentally, he ends up paying her a visit. That should be a fun episode next week.

This episode was just a hoy overall. I didn’t like Anna at first, but she immediately grew on me. Realistically, she has no chance of getting with Desumi. However, since Desumi has a romantic rival in Fudou, it makes sense for Fudou himself to have a romantic rival instead.

The comedy in this episode is incredible as always. My favorite gag is when Fudou has to dress up as a Gekko henchman, he always puts the mask on backwards even after Desumi tells him.

It was nice to hear about Fudou’s goal to become a teacher, but I’m curious if Desumi wants to do anything with her life besides just being with Fudou. It’s been established that she’s used to just doing whatever makes others happy, so maybe that’s all she needs right now. Either way, it should be very interesting when Fudou likely meets her father on the next episode. I can only imagine how that will go down.
