English Dub Review: Spy x Family “WILL THEY PASS OR FAIL?”

Overview:

The day that Eden College would announce the applicants that successfully got into the school had finally arrived, but Anya’s number is not listed. The Forgers fall into the depths of despair but are greeted by Henderson. He praises them for their interview and tells them that Anya is at the top of the waiting list. Three days later, they find out that Anya got into the school! Franky comes over to celebrate with the Forgers and they all agree to reward Anya for working so hard. What Anya asks for…

Our Take:

Who knew that one of the best action sequences of the show would be when Loid is just acting for a fun night for Anya? That doesn’t mean it wasn’t any less impressive. Spy x Family hasn’t had too many action scenes but they are done really well. The transitions are smooth and even though the stakes weren’t that high we got to see Loid as the badass he is.

One thing I don’t think he was expecting though was to be attacked by mama bear Yor. She wasn’t really pretending I don’t think. She was going at Loid hard to “protect” Princess Anya and I believe he only won on a technicality. I fear for Loid if he ever has to go up against her for real.

This anime hasn’t had a bad episode yet and I can’t recommend it enough. Saturday’s are an absolute joy because of this show. It always gives me a reason to smile and laugh, plus the way they are all unknowingly becoming a family is some of the most wholesome storytelling I’ve seen lately.
