English Dub Review: Attack on Titan “The Sudden Visitor: The Torturous Curse of Youth”
Overview:
Two years after escaping the torment of his mother, Jean attempts to avoid her when returning to Trost for a training exercise. In a strange turn of events, he ends up in a cooking contest against Sasha.
Our Take:
What the hell did I just watch? One thing I have found I really like about these OADs is that they give us a different side of the Attack on Titan universe and its characters. There’s definitely a lot more comedy and levity in this episode and I think a few of these will follow that trend.
Another thing that I really like about these is that it really does show how much these characters have grown. I forgot how much of an insufferable asshole Jean used to be and all that was before I saw how he treated his mother. She did not torment him at all, she just cared about him and I can see how it might have been a bit embarrassing but she loves and cares for him. I’m not sure what happened to his mom in the main story but I hope he started to treat her better as he matured. Crazy how he’s one of my favorites now.
The comedy in this one was almost too over the top. It was still awesome to see these characters interact in different ways. I don’t know which way I want the rest of these OADs to go. While the last one was really interesting it was also really cool to just see what these people do when everything isn’t so depressing. Getting a look at some run-of-the-mill lifestyle stuff is kind of nice after all.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
