Paramount+ Debuts Teaser Trailer For Star Trek: Lower Decks Season Three

Slated to premiere Q3 for Paramount+, the streamer has released a teaser trailer for the upcoming third season of Star Trek: Lower Decks. Tawny Newsome recently wrapped up her contributions just last month. The season is produced by CBS Eye Animation Productions in association with Secret Hideout, Important Science, Roddenberry Entertainment, and animation studio Titmouse, with Mike McMahan serving as showrunner and Barry J. Kelly as supervising director.

Ten episodes are on the way for Star Trek Lower Decks season three will follow Captain Freeman’s trial for apparently destroying the Pakled homeworld. Other elements from the end of the second season that the third explores include the relationship between Beckett Mariner and Jennifer Sh’reyan and the secrets behind Sam Rutherford’s cyborg implant.

Jonathan Frakes revealed that he would be returning as his Star Trek: The Next Generation character William T. Riker after doing the same in the previous Lower Decks seasons. Second-season guest star Gabrielle Ruiz returns as T’Lyn for the third season, though she only has a small role as the third season was being written before McMahan saw the positive fan reaction to T’Lyn’s second-season appearance. He hoped to explore the character further in future seasons. Lauren Lapkus also returns from the earlier seasons as Jennifer Sh’reyan.

Synopsis:

STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS focuses on the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s least important ships, the U.S.S. Cerritos. Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford and Tendi have to keep up with their duties and their social lives, often while the ship is being rocked by a multitude of sci-fi anomalies.
