English Dub Review: Sabikui Bisco “Tetsujin Revived”

Overview

As Bisco falls into Tetsujin’s reactor, taking Kurokawa down with him. The reactor begins to overload, with Milo and the others just barely escaping in time as the dome starts to collapse. However, they’re given no time to grieve their loss of Bisco before their next trial assails them. With Bisco gone, Milo tries to figure out what he can do on his own now after discovering an even greater threat…

Our Take

Despite everything Bisco did last episode to end the rust-spreading madness Kurokawa unleashed, its still not enough for the battle to be over. As a giant semi-metallic kaiju-sized looking monstrosity that design-wise, seems to give off “Attack on Titan” vibes known as “Tetsujin” has awoken from the old days of the first rusting and as a direct result of being killed in a molten Rust Pit with Bisco. Kurokawa or at least his subconscious has somehow been transported into the creature which is still holding onto that base hatred for Bisco even as they’re both extremely dead.

At the very least, you got to appreciate Milo really stepping up now that Bisco is gone and has totally embraced Bisco’s heart and soul to face Kurokawa enveloped in Tetsujin together with Pawoo, Actagawa and Jabi. This is in combination with having the rust eater cure in his blood flowing through his veins which gives Milo a decent advantage trying to stop Tetsujin as he can get up close even as it fires those huge rust blasts. It’s easily the most gung-ho battle so far that manages to make a decent balancing act between action and suspense.

Overall, I really liked this episode. It may be a bit nonsensical but I think that’s just the level of suspension of disbelief that this show required from the start given the weird-ass animals native to this universe. But in equal measure this managed to have some emotional depth and showed how the end of one person’s life (in this case, Bisco) can impact or effect other people in different ways. And nowhere was this heavily spotlighted than a badass scene where the once timid Milo evokes Bisco’s loud smartass attitude and swagger in the face of danger. We do get a scene of the Jellyfish-haired lady Tirol making a brief appearance, but with two episodes left, let’s hope it actually leads somewhere…
