English Dub Review: Orient “Bushi’s Pride” “The Outside World” “The Kosameda Band”
Overview:
Musashi and Kojiro get a look at some real Bushi in action. They decide to greet the outside world and bring an end to all Kishin.
Our Take:
There is definitely something here but as of right now it’s pretty generic. The characters are all pretty tropey and fit into their archetypes. That isn’t to say they aren’t good or fun characters, I mean tropes are popular for a reason. But it’s just something to think about. The same could be said for the story as well. Monsters are bad and to unite the world they need to all be killed. The twist in the first episode (that barely qualifies as a twist) was interesting and I hope it can be built upon. I hope all the Kishin aren’t just mindless monsters. Though as of now it looks like some humans pose just as huge a threat as the Kishin so that is a fun wrinkle.
We’re fairly early on so there is definitely time for improvement but for now Orient is just average. There are worse things to be than average though. One area it does stand out is the voice acting. I really like A.J. Beckles as Musashi and I can see how he was such a breakout VA last year. One other area that is pretty good is comedy. I didn’t expect a lot of the humor to be as good as it is but that is definitely a plus.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
