English Dub Review: Love of Kill “Target”
Overview
Despite knowing that her boss is beginning to suspect that she might be in contact with the elusive Korean Hitman Ryang-Ha Song, Chateau goes on to carry out a hit that Song had tipped her off to…
Our Take
So far, the chemistry between Chateau and Ryang-ha still feels lacking to me for how stoic & cold Chateau come across compared to the eccentric Ryang-ha even here, but her past continues getting teased in its fragmented flashback structure at the end which continues to build some anticipation on the anime side to what she experienced in her youth.
Also, having one of your employees seem close to your target could easily give anyone more than a few headaches. It’s also weird seeing them talk about their line of work so casually though. Behind the scenes looks like Song’s playing his own game. And I give points to Chateau’s driving skills in that she managed to survive with only minor injuries. But her assailant though was no amateur though it seems with the only clues to who that dude is is a Spiderweb tattoo on his face and as possible ties with Songs past that could potentially trouble both him and Chateau.
This wasn’t perfect, but I think the unraveling mystery elements seem to be one of the best things this episode has going for it. I just can’t get over the very contrived plot armor that Chateau seems to have. The threat she got from the thug who hassled her on the road got other people killed yet Chateau was completely fine enough to walk and run? All she got out of all that was a fucking fever? And that post-credits scene left me with more questions than answers…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
