Our Take

For episode 2, I thought it was going to be an anime where she had to travel the world and go on separate adventures to see her children. But I almost forgot that this is a lighthearted relaxing anime that surprised me in a good way. Also, the chase scene gave me a good laugh which further displays how Cayna basically has powers for every possible scenario, including a funny scene where Cayna runs on top of a lake like she’s Jesus while chasing down some royal kid named “Primo” as asked by some authority figures.

As for the other episode, everything about Mai-Mai and Skargo is hilarious in execution as both her full-grown adult elf-kids mentally revert to children whenever Cayna is present and almost begin to lose any semblance of common sense. Especially Skargo at the mere mention of her mother being in town has to be seen to be believed at his absurd reaction alone. I also feel like Cayna may have already realized she might be dead in the “real” world after learning that none of her friends had come over and that so much time had passed in both Leadale and Earth that she had been dead for some time…

Overall, both episodes were fun, lighthearted, and imaginative yet also serious in small doses. I was also pleasantly surprised that all 3 of her kids are in the same place. And they all seem to be good people who all are on pretty good terms which each other, even after 200 years despite the high-priest son being an overly dramatic dolt which I’m sure was done for comedic purposes. Let’s just hope an actual plot with stakes happens somewhere down the line…
