English Dub Review: How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom “Aping the Frown of Beauty”

Overview:

With Van, the capital of Amidonia returned to Julius, so too returns the oppressive rule of the government. The people’s dissatisfaction increases day by day until finally, they end up revolting. Julius’s sister, Roroa, then comes before Souma…

Our Take:

I guess we can’t have a perfect episode. The biggest negatives were another harem element, which I guess I should just stop being bothered by and quit being surprised. Also, maybe I missed something but Julius getting exiled from his kingdom was a pretty big thing to just kind of gloss over. But I suppose it was only a matter of time and we needed to get on with certain things one way or another.

As  I have said before I really love the administrative look into things with this show. The way they need to be diplomatic about everything is really interesting to me. I had a feeling the Kingdom of Amidonia would be back in Elfrieden before too long but that was super quick. I guess Souma was right with exactly how Julius would act when he got his city back. Let that go to show you that you should treat your people better than a foreign power would.
