English Dub Review: Don’t Toy with Me, Miss Nagatoro “Senpai’s Such a Closet Perv!!/ There’s No Way Creepy Senpai Could Go on a Proper Date!!”

Overview:

Nagatoro makes a bet that Senpai has lewd books in the club room, but things don’t go quite as she plans. Sakura has a stalker, and she asks Senpai for help getting rid of him.

Our Take:

Another week another lesson on how to not have a healthy relationship. I know that not confessing and lying to yourself is a staple in romcom anime but this takes it to another almost uncomfortable level. I mean I suppose that Senpai deep down is okay with most of it but it really feels toxic.

The nicest thing he does for Nagatoro leads to him getting ridiculed and bullied. Nagatoro gets so insanely jealous when Senpai helps one of her friends with a stalker that she essentially becomes a stalker herself. But hey she’s a cute anime girl so it’s okay. I remember watching shojo shows like this and they were bothersome too. I think it says a lot when I actually like the bullying friends more than the main girl. Maybe the final three episodes will do something to drastically change my mind on this series but this hasn’t been a fun ride so far.
