Season Review: Alabama Jackson Season One
Ironically, the season 11b of Robot Chicken premiered recently and it featured a bit all about the negative ramifications of time travel. In the case of Alabama Jackson, the titular character(voiced by Donald Faison who also writes and produces the series) teams up with Harriet Tubman (voiced by Wanda Sykes) to fight against apparent racist and former President of the United States Woodrow Wilson (voiced by Seth Green) who sends his goons to various eras of history to try and make sure racism stays in tact.
A lot of important historical moments in history are humorously sent up here. From the creation of hip hop to the Salem Witch Trials and the Civil Rights Movement, even with only 3-minute runtimes, Alabama Jackson covers a lot of ground in terms of the historical landmarks of American history. One must ask when looking back at all of these historical movements, did we, Americans, ever learn anything? No, Alabama Jackson isn’t profound, it’s longer than Robot Chicken sketches with Alabama providing hilarious commentary along the way.
The stop-motion series may not have much depth, but it being a social series, that’s to be expected and it’s an interesting bind that the show finds itself in. There’s very much a half-hour series here that could very well delve deeper into some of the topics brought up. Does Adult Swim make amends on helping cancel The Boondocks (2x) and pickup a black-produced series? They should.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
