Review: The Casagrande’s “Weather Beaten”

Overview

A powerful artifact is coming to the Great Lakes City museum and it brings along a storm for the Casagrande’s.

Our Take

This time around due to a comedy of errors, the Casagrande kids get their hands on a magical statue tied with Mayan culture called “Tlaloc”. And in a typical by the numbers story of a group of kids messing with a godlike artifact of Mesoamerican origin, It does a good job not only displaying Tlaloc’s power, but also the kid’s reactions to it.

The two other prevalent running jokes aside from people misusing the statue mostly stem from Carl’s Greed and his underhanded nature which often gets him into trouble, and some fake currency invented by their pet bird that gave me a chuckle when it’s discovered that certain family members were using it to trick the kids.

Overall this episode was a bit formulaic, but at least some of the jokes worked. It would’ve been efficient if it was paired up with the previous episode, but I guess it makes sense to stretch out the episodes given the recent news of this show’s cancellation that’ll soon happen once this season ends. Hopefully, the next and possibly final wave of episodes helps this final season end on a high note…
