FX Networks Entertainment Chief Wants “Archer” To Continue On In Perpetuity Like “The Simpsons”

Despite the fact that FXX has a new animated comedy airing in a few weeks called Dicktown and that a new series Little Demon is expected to premiere sometime later this year, the talk was all about Archer in a new interview with Deadline featuring FX Entertainment President Eric Schrier. Fortunately, it’s good news, for Archer fans as it sounds like the network doesn’t want this show to end anytime soon.

With the 13th season on the way, the first to not feature Jessica Walter as “Malory Archer”, Schrier says that Archer does so well that the series can continue “for a very long time”.  As for the show’s upcoming season, Schrier tells Deadline,

“It’s not designed to be the last season. I think we feel really good about the scripts, they’re animating them now for the next season. We’re waiting to see how the creators feel about how long it should progress. We’re very enthusiastic about that show and it’s continued longevity. When you have an animated half-hour like that, it can continue on, as you can see with The Simpson, for a very long time. Archer still does great for us and people love it and the fans love it. So as long as they can keep doing it and maintain the quality, we’ll want to support it,”.

Our Take:

It’s no surprise FXX wants to keep backing the Archer horse. The show’s twelfth season was by far the strongest in a number of seasons and we are eagerly anticipating a 13th season.
