English Dub Review: The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat “Choice of Betrayal”
Overview
Lugh is hired to assassinate Dia by her father Count Viekone, who is an old friend of Lugh’s father Cian. Cian asks Lugh to fulfill Count Viekone’s request, saying he’ll carry out the assassination instead if Lugh turns down the job.
Our Take
Damn! this is a complex predicament for Lugh. As it turns out, Dia is caught up in a civil war in her own country in which her family is on the losing end and the greedy nobles want to capture her for her magic and breeding a potential heir. On one side, he’s assigned a mission to kill Dia and on the other hand, he has his father’s orders that he can obviously refuse but then his father will assassinate her himself. Also, I had my suspicions about that weird-ass twist regarding Dia from the first episode but now it all makes sense…
But this being a job that he has a choice to turn down, that already speaks a lot of volumes behind it. The Swoigel Kingdom that they cannot get involved with their lease of the Alvan Kingdom, and the Viekone Family restoration of the kingdom. And after that extreme act of devotion from Tarte’s end, I think Lugh could at least give more value to Tarte, he puts her aside even though she does a lot for him. She did all that even knowing that Lugh could never reciprocate those feelings for her.
Overall, aside from the noticeably bad CGI during the long-distance shots, this was a decent episode. Tarte did something incredibly selfless, but I couldn’t help but feel bad for her when she cried though. But at the very least, Lugh is lucky enough to have a supportive dad who encourages him to make his own choices. The next episode should be the Season finale. And hopefully, they won’t forget what Lugh’s been fighting for under the Goddess’s deal which seems to all come down to him since other people the Goddess has reincarnated ended up being a dud in some form or another…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
