Our Take

The proceedings of Episode 3 give the narrative actual stakes as Mira is now on a quest to search for the 9 “Wise Men” in an effort to fix things within her kingdom. However, her first trip in episode 3 involves going to an underground chamber known as “Nebrapolis” during the course of said journey. involved their journey encounters a young boy by the name of Tact who wants to know what’s become of his parents dead, and the Mirror of Darkness in the dungeon can show the truth. And since Mira has a lot of time on her hands, she took on this side quest with other adventurers who form the guild Ecarlate Carillon. Each one of them has their attributes, while Mira unleashes hell against any obstacles by summoning her Valkyrie spirit Alfina to clear the dungeon’s minion ghouls for an open path.

Episode 4 picks up immediately as we encounter more trouble after finding out the outcome of the mirror and the possible whereabouts of Tact’s parents, but Mira reveals she’s been searching for a specific individual who turns out to be long gone, and his place is filled with his stockpile of information and lots of maids. The way the plot was structured  left me confused and thinking that Howard and Soul Howl are the same person, I mean Mira is looking for Howard at first and then suddenly looking for Soul Howl? It also leads to an action sequence against a large demon, but unfortunately, the fight itself was quite mediocre with black screen powers and limited animation with random spots of CGI here and there.

Overall both episodes felt like a genuine 2-part story and worked on a consistent level. I actually kinda liked the atmosphere when Mira was alone exploring, though I can do without the random toilet scene as I don’t know what was going on in the author’s mind when he wrote that. The slideshow near the beginning looked like a slideshow of 30 second still images during their conversation despite dialogue going the entire time leading me to wonder why they even bothered not to animate it at all if it would’ve just been Mira and everyone else walking and talking? At the very least, the cliffhanger got me hooked enough to see what happens next!
