English Dub Review: Sakugan “TO BE CONTINUED”

Overview:

Memempu is captured by a Shibito girl who refers to her as a “rainbow child.” What do those words mean? And can Gagumber save her before something terrible happens?!

Our Take:

I had a feeling they were building up too many different plotlines to finish them all satisfactorily. Well, they named this episode with the most obvious sequel bait title I have ever seen. Seriously, it’s kind of funny I mean “TO BE CONTINUED” as the episode title?

There are a few tropes here like the chosen children type of thing. As you can expect, a lot of them don’t get fully fleshed out and since that will all depend on the sequel series that to my knowledge hasn’t been greenlit, it’s hard to give Sakugan a pass.

Still, the characters are enjoyable and it was definitely a fun and interesting ride. I plan on going into more detail with the season review but I did like this episode. I really love when familial bonds are tested and love comes out on top. I did find it kind of annoying that the bad guy could have had what he wanted but literally just went “You can have her a little longer” like it was very dumb.
