English Dub Review: How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom “A Warrior Will Die for One Who Understands Him”

Overview:

Souma is victorious in both the Elfrieden civil war and the battle against AMidonia. However, his victory was won as a result of the devotion of a man named Georg. Still, the law is the law, and Souma must pass down a harsh judgment against him.

Our Take:

I was prepared to give this episode a solid 10/10 but there were some annoyances near the end that knocked it down a bit. It was still really good and I am enjoying this show. I really like the subdued nature of the action compared to other shows. All this show does is deal with political maneuvering which can be boring to some.

Georg is a really interesting character and I can understand him wanting to do what is best for the kingdom even at the expense of his own life. I think Georg is too interesting a character to be taken out of the show entirely but I suppose only time will tell.

As for what kind of annoyed me. I love a good harem show and I’m not opposed to a harem ending where the character gets with all of the girls especially when there’s an in-universe reason. But back-to-back marriage proposals were a bit much. I did kind of like how he applied modern idol rules to Juna though. If her fans found out she was engaged there would be an uproar. Kind of crappy but that’s the rules I guess.
