English Dub Review: Deep Insanity THE LOST CHILD “take 07”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
With Leslie gone, the team is forced to find their way on their own. Meanwhile, Shigure begins to have doubts about his own mission.
Our Take:
The second half of season one is already off to a depressing start. The platoon’s mission to assassinate EL-Cee is a complete bust, and to make things even worse, they lost one of its members, Leslie, thanks to Hayden. On the plus side, I managed to enjoy what the last episode offered regardless of its shocking conclusion.
The episode is a continuation of “take 06”, in which Platoon 11 attempts to cope with Leslie’s death. Then, they’re sent on a new assignment in the Asylum to rescue the villagers from Hayden. But, unfortunately, with Leslie gone, Platoon 11 is one member short of getting it done. That is until Commander Vera steps in to lead the team.
The storyline offers plenty of insight on how “Sleepers” handle death regarding their traditions. When a member dies, the body is retrieved, their belongings are packed, and the team moves on. That’s it. For an organization that deals with monsters below the surface, it sure has a way of handling difficult situations like that. It wasn’t what I was expecting regarding the characters’ reactions from the previous episode. Still, it provided some engaging interactions between them to keep my attention, especially during the scene involving Shigure and Vera.
Speaking of Vera, “take 07” sees the commander finally getting the piece of the action after sitting on the sidelines for six episodes. Not only that, but it also showcases a bit more of her development, like what the previous episodes did with the other Sleeper agents. Despite Vera feeling disinterest over Leslie’s death, she chooses to lead the team inside the Asylum, which could mean that she’s feeling a tad guilty over Leslie’s demise. But, of course, it could also be a part of Vera’s plan to eliminate EL-Cee. Whatever the case may be, it was nice to see Vera getting her due, with the episode doing wonders in maintaining her mysterious persona. Plus, her scythe-like weapon was cool to see in action.
Overall, “take 07” marks an enjoyable start of the show’s second half, which sees Platoon 11 getting a helping hand from their commander. My issue with the episode was that the CGI Scarred monsters still looked like they came from an early PlayStation 2 game. The other problem I had was the sound mixing for Sumire’s voice. It sounded a bit muffled compared to the other voices, which sounded as fine as before. Other than that, it’s another decent continuation of the Sleepers’ survival against the Asylum and the dreadful Hayden.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
