Adult Swim Orders Second Seasons Of Birdgirl And Smiling Friends
We told you last year that Adult Swim’s Birdgirl was in production for a second season, but now it’s confirmed and is slated to debut in Summer 2022. Read our review of season one here.
The Birdteam is back and they’re still not learning from their mistakes. Judy Ken Sebben and the Birdteam attempt to navigate the troubles of modern corporations, tackling everything from ethics in new tech, to cancel culture and rejuvenating skin sack health fads. Will they fail? Spectacularly! But sometimes it’s not about the solutions we come up with, it’s about the new problems we make along the way.
The half-hour animated comedy features Paget Brewster in the starring role with Erik Richter and Christina Miller as EP’s. Global Mechanic produces the series with Adult Swim’s Williams Street Productions and follows Birdgirl as the CEO of Sebben & Sebben.
Smiling Friends has also been renewed for a second season and just kicked off streaming it’s first season today. Read our review of the season thus far (an additional episode is on the way) here. The series premiered seven new episodes all in the same night and is created by Zach Hadel and Michael Cusack. The Princess Bento produced series follows the employees of a small company dedicated to bringing happiness to a bizarre yet colorful world.
IGN Fan Fest has announced it’s 2022 lineup which will see panels for other WarnerMedia animated projects like the recently premiered Shenmue: The Animation, Constantine: The House of Mystery, and Prime Video’s The Legend of Vox Machina.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
