English Dub Review: Sakugan “SOUND OF DREAM”

Overview:

Merooro brings Team Memempu to Dream Colony to reward them for their aid against Shibito. But a night that should feature a performance from the Colony’s foremost diva turns into a farce when the girl escapes her handlers and goes on the run!

Our Take:

This was definitely the best episode but unless this got cleared for a second season or something that I missed they are going to have a hard time wrapping this up well. Especially if you factor in the post-credits scene this feels more like the end of a first-half than a whole series.

Everyone has decided to stop in the Dream Colony to see the Dream Diva sing. Her name is Sina but unknown to everyone else she wants a day to do what she’s always dreamed of. Her dreams are surprisingly mundane though and because Gagumber and Memempu help her they are accused of kidnapping.

What made this episode so interesting was how this colony operates. It’s like a tourist colony where everyone gets to come and live their dreams. But what about the people who live there? They do whatever their parents did before them. Most people seem fine with it because they get to help others’ dreams come true. After getting to spend some time on her own dreams Sina is more than happy to go back to singing.

I loved this episode and it really made me think. What makes a dream? Is it only a dream because we can’t have it? It was somehow the saddest episode while also being the most uplifting. I know it doesn’t make sense but watch it and I’m sure you’ll agree. Also big shout out to the voice actress for Sina. I think it was Tara Sands, but whoever voiced her sang the song at the end and they sang it beautifully and it was very impressive.
