English Dub Review: How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom “Amidonia in a Lion’s Skin”

Overview:

Julius, the son of Gaius, attempts to reclaim his former territory of Van from Souma, backed by the authority of the Gran Chaos Empire. The power to negotiate is given to Jeanne Euphoria, the younger sister of Empress Maria Euphoria.

Our Take:

I was very surprised that Part 2 of this started so early. I thought we wouldn’t be getting it till the end of February or the beginning of March. So hats off to Funimation for getting it started so quickly! I just wonder if they can keep up the pace.

Souma is trying to get better at using his magic offensively and Aisha was his training partner. He still has a long way to go but did get to learn that Liscia’s mom is a fellow dark magic-user. Speaking of Aisha, I really love Emily Fajardo’s voice as her. It just sounds unique and really captures the feel of Aisha’s character I think.

Souma is a freaking genius with the way he thinks eight steps ahead. His plan is to treat the people of Van so well that when it goes back to Amidonia it creates a little tension for the country. Souma also knows when to bare his teeth and definitely lets the Prince of Amidonia, Julius, know where he stands. Part 2 is off to a great start and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
