English Dub Review: Deep Insanity THE LOST CHILD “take 04”
Overview (Spoilers Below):
Shigure investigates the past of XO Leslie when a mysterious assailant suddenly ambushes them.
Our Take:
Another week means another mission into the Asylum, and another mission means another exploration of a specific member of Sleeper Platoon 11. This episode focuses a bit more on XO Leslie, the Platoon’s Executive Officer, who happens to be an excellent swordsman. In addition to exploring Daniel’s relationship with Leslie, the episode also introduces a couple of new characters that could pose a massive problem later on.
One of which is Hayden, an old associate from Leslie’s past with the same motive as Daniel’s. Another character making their debut is Hayden’s assistant, Nadia, a young girl who commands two monstrous rabbit-like animals. The episode also introduces a new type of exiles known as Cultists, who are mindless monsters who have lived in the Asylum the longest. These new characters offer exciting yet brief debuts that should hint at intriguing new developments later down the road. Unfortunately, I’m not sure how I feel about Nadia’s pet bunnies yet. Sure, they look monstrous, but they’re not enough to pose a considerable threat for the Platoon.
The show’s fourth episode portrayed the usual character exposition formula that we’ve seen in the previous two. The formula worked well in the last two episodes due to the amount of interest in Sumire and Larry, and it still works for Daniel’s time with Leslie. However, because of Leslie’s snarky attitude, it will take a couple more episodes for me to get used to this character. Nevertheless, with plenty of past secrets that Leslie has under his belt, I’m already expecting this development to pay off excitingly in the future.
Overall, “take 04” delivers yet another piece of character exposition with plenty of uncovered secrets and brief character debuts. Hayden and Nadia did little to be mild threats to Sleeper Platoon 11 during their first impressions, except for Hayden’s objective involving EL-Cee. Aside from that, it’s another enjoyable continuation that sees Daniel growing more attached to his teammates despite it being a tad weaker than the previous episodes. With Hayden knowing about Daniel’s mission, I can assume that the creatures in the Asylum are the least of Daniel’s problems.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
