Adult Swim News: HBO MAX Feb 2022 Additions ; Toonami Future Unclear ; Robot Chicken Season 11 Return
Adult Swim VP Jason DeMarco isn’t sure about the future of Toonami. The longtime Adult Swim figurehead says that because of Sony’s tightening of grips on the rights to various anime, Jason has no idea what the longtime action toon lineup is going to look like for the next year, despite the fact we’ve already been promised weekly premieres. On of the franchises that recently premiered, One Piece, return to broadcast episodes via a special deal with Toei who also has a streaming deal with Funimation that sees all of the episodes Adult Swim is about to air already available on the aforementioned streamer.
Good news is DeMarco is teasing that WarnerMedia may be able to jump in and provide some DC or Rooster Teeth-produced series to show up on the line up as well as some “weirder bets on shows we may have not been able to show before”. In the meantime, Shenmue is slated to premiere weekly episodes in the next couple of weeks, however, what comes after that is completely unknown at this point. With upfronts coming up in April/May, hopefully we’ll get more concrete info then. In between that, Toonami is planning a special anniversary for the lineup’s 25th anniversary in March. When we hear specifically what, we’ll update!

HBO MAX has announced the following Adult Swim titles to be part of the streamer’s offerings starting February 2022.
February 5:
Rick and Morty, Season 5 (also available on Hulu)
February 9:
February 23:
Robot Chicken, Season 11 A (The eleventh season of Robot Chicken returns to Adult Swim on February 20th)
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
