English Dub Review: Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon “Takechiyo’s Request”

Overview:

Takechiyo hires Moroha to help him with the familial strife at his home. Kohaku teaches Towa an important lesson about learning to run away.

Our Take:

Towa got given some really great advice in this episode. She’s very strong and determined which are good things but she also refuses to retreat. Sometimes you encounter something too big for you and that’s your only option even if it seems like the “cowardly” thing to do.

It’s definitely not confirmed or anything but some people seem to think that Inuyasha and Kagome are dead. Which, let’s be honest even if they are mean nothing in this world let alone in anime. But it was sad to see Moroha kind of lose her typical “no worries” persona. You never realize how good someone might be at hiding pain until they forget to one time.

One thing that really bugged me is it seemed like the whole episode was setting up Towa to run away from a fight. But she just ends up bulldozing her way through like she always does. What was the point of that whole lesson if she is just going to ignore it? That’s something that really bugs me about shounen shows, they just power up through most things. Maybe that lesson will come into play at a later date but I doubt it.

I also really want to mention the opening and ending songs but want to gather my thoughts on those a little more. So, look forward to that next week for sure cause if there is one thing I love it’s dissecting anime openings and endings. This was a fun episode but it was mostly set up I think. No monster of the week this time. Well… there was but it was lame so we aren’t going to talk about it.
