English Dub Review: The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat “Plan of Goddess”
Overview
The goddess is formulating a plan to stop the Hero’s rampage. Knowing that this so-called “Hero” will defeat the Demon Lord and after saving the world, next, he will end up using that power to destroy the world. The goddess has decided to perform a contingency plan of sorts. At the same time this is going on, Lugh has an unusual encounter within the forest of the Tuatha Dé Estate…
Our Take
This time around this episode is the introduction story of Tarte, an abandoned girl from a poor family that Lugh has saved her from captivity of being the prey of wolves, and simultaneously a good chance to test his assassination powers. Just as expected, Lugh teaches and trains Tarte the Tuatha Dé family assassination skills (and a scene that’s is definitely censored), she is a good servant who still has ways to go if she was to become a true assassin to Lugh’s standards as his personal assistant.
In a separate subplot, it’s clear the Goddess is treating this “Kill the Hero” mission like a game as she’s willing to hedge her bets by reincarnating more than just Lugh himself, but also other soldiers & professionals in the hopes that one of them will actually fulfill her desired goal. Though the results are quite random and make it look like she’s playing a game with multiple timelines making her intentions very suspicious…
Overall an interesting episode that served as an excellent introduction to the character of Tarte and showcase her transformation as a character that I’m sure will be essential to the plot later on. I am glad that this show still manages to have a touch of darkness/edge to it, I just hope Lugh actually develops bonds. He definitely had a ton of regrets in his past life and wanted to correct those in this one. And he didn’t have a loving happy family there either. As for the Goddess’s subplot, It’s also clever that she offered the same deal to Lugh to multiple people as a backup plan. But this also makes me question just why does she want the hero of that world killed so badly if it hasn’t happened yet? The Opening suggests that Lugh might turn on her in the future so it remains to be seen if the Goddess knows more than she’s sharing to those she’s giving this so-called “Second chance” to in this fantasy world.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
