English Dub Review: Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun “My Desire”
OVERVIEW (SPOILERS)
Iruma uses Alicred to absorb the beast’s blast, ending the fight. However, this gives the Six Fingers enough time to break out Kirio and escape, which was their objective all along. Ronove’s father throws a parade for him and Iruma and everyone celebrates, with Aremi even asking Iruma out for later. Iruma is ready for things to get back to normal, but Sullivan draws far more attention to him, making him a celebrity. To escape attention, Clara invites him over to her house.
OUR TAKE
And that’s a wrap on Walter Park! The climax was basically wrapped within the first few minutes, leaving the rest of the episode for wrap up and setting up future plot points, but it’s all utilized rather well. The immediate threat of defeating all the beasts is resolved, but as I mentioned, this was just a diversion for the Six Fingers to retrieve Kirio. I have to admit that I’m pretty disappointed that we didn’t get to know more about the Six Fingers, who are pretty lacking in personality or creative character designs, but I imagine that’s followed up on more in future chapters. Shiida, the one who had some scenes with Iruma earlier in this arc, will very likely have this brief friendship expanded upon in their next meeting, which I’m hoping is in the material that will be used for Season 3. Considering the Six Fingers and Kirio’s group are the only things this series has in terms of real villains at the moment, I would like to think they’ll only get more and more focus as the story goes on. Their main motivation is going to be about bringing demons back to what they used to be, namely cruel and powerful, which Iruma and friends will likely oppose on principals of friendship and love and such.
Looking into the more immediate future, Ameri and Iruma seem to be making clear forward progress in their relationship. One of the first major moments of the season was her realizing her true feelings for Iruma, while he’s shown throughout the season that he is definitely all the great things she sees in him. I can’t say for sure whether or not he actually feels the same for her, but I’m having a hard time coming up with a better pick for him than Ameri, especially after this most recent fight where she basically cleaned house without much help. So, while there doesn’t seem to be much in the way of clear tension in terms of whether or not they’ll get together, it does at least look like it would be a good and healthy option for them both to explore. And we have three episodes left in the season, one of which is going to give a glance at them on a sort of date, so we still have plenty of time to see this nudge just a bit more! And we’ll do just that next week.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
