English Dub Review: The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent “Return”

Overview

When the fighting in Klausner’s Woods grows fraught, it’s up to Sei and her Saintly conjury to cleanse the forest and restore it to its former glory.


Our Take

In the big finale of this season, the whole gang seems to have come together, for the final fight which primarily consists of the Miasma slime creatures vs all the human characters. The entire fight was basically them from being quite organized to being pushed back by the miasma monsters and losing formation. Sei running over to Hawk instead of just area dispelling the Miasma was fairly interesting, but it’s all about not losing your cool in the face of the difference that makes those situations stand out for sure.

It was also amusing seeing the grand Mage and the alchemist get along so well. I guess both wanted to see the true magical abilities of Sei. With the teamwork of Hawk, Sei, Aira, and the grand mage it looks like their next adventure into the forest will be more successful. The slime creature was quite the surprising entry into the battle though, but not without its own consequences. The silver lining out of all of it was that Sei’s blessing was able to restore it to its former glory now that the catalyst for its corruption was gone.

Overall, this was a solid season finale that managed to not only allow Sei and friends to achieve their goal and solve the region’s troubles but also allowed her to forge stronger bonds with her beloved as well. Sei and Hawke’s relationship was so well done felt organic, which made watching this feel refreshing in places. It’s uncommon enough to have an Isekai focused on adult characters, yet on top of that, it also managed to restrain itself from completely going the harem route despite having a fairly diverse cast of potential love interests. But given that this is based on an ongoing Manga series I wouldn’t be surprised if season 2 does become a thing.
