English Dub Review: The Honor at Magic High School “The Nine Schools Competition begins”

Overview

First High is aiming to win for the third year in a row at the National Magic High School Goodwill Tournament of Magic Skills, also known as the Nine Schools Competition. Mayumi and the other seniors at First High are known as the most powerful team of their generation, and they are fired up about claiming victory again. However, Airi Isshiki, Shiori Kanou, and Toko Tsukushiin from Third High are determined to stop their winning streak…



Our Take

These newly introduced ladies of Third high sure are quite confident. And it shows with Airi’s intro along with Shiori and Toko. At the very least, Airi and her friends aren’t lacking in motivation or aspirations either. Compared to the previous episode, It was nice that after the ice was broken that the girls turned out to be welcoming to Tatsuya though it did serve to make their contest with third high much more intense.

As for the protagonist side of the proceedings, Honoka sure had a close encounter with Tatsuya as the accident that Mari suffered though sure was horrible but the injuries were thankfully minimal. At the same time this is going on, Tatsuya is busy battling with Ichijou as well as the guilty parties behind the sabotages.

Overall this was a pretty fun episode that did well to showcase the new characters of Third high in the form of Airi’s team as well as the nine schools competition itself. If there’s anything that keeps me from giving this a higher rating, It’s the fact that I can do without the shoehorned incest undertones into this show on a consistent basis. Every time they do these implied incest scenes I cringe…
