English Dub Review: I’m Standing on a Million Lives “A Will to Destroy”

Overview:

Yusuke’s party manages to escape the village, and then they encounter a large group of people. They are the ones that were run out of the village on the pretext of the Journey of Hope.

Our Take:

So in this week’s “I can’t believe people are that stupid” we have two dead people that anyone with a pulse could have seen happening. I mean I was just starting to kind of see the chief’s side of things but then he was taken out. I can understand where the villagers were coming from but what does it matter at this point? I guess it’s really true that eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

Also, if you have the person who just killed someone tied up you might want to keep them more separated from the family of the victim. Just an idea on how to avoid future murders. To be fair the chief’s granddaughter has one of those parasite things on her head but still not a smart move “heroes”.

The chief knew more about this New Eden place they are trying to get to so I hope that someone got that information first. I did like how they just killed a bunch of goblins then stole their village. It was a pretty nice village too so I think the people will be fine there. Ya know… once they clear out the goblin bodies.

In other news, Keita had a pretty cool moment where he actually saved some people and didn’t expect a ton of recognition afterward. He douched it up later though, you know how Keita is at this point. Glen (Glenda) got some really good characterization this week. Her father was in the military and would show her pictures of dead bodies, which is why she is uncomfortable with them. Once she told her dad she was attracted to women and wouldn’t be giving him grandchildren he pointed his rifle at her. Why are anime dads almost always giant assholes?

I really feel for the chief’s granddaughter, Iris, she was grieving and now has that parasite on her. We learned early on in this arc that it’s pretty much fatal but maybe there is a way now? I just know that shows sometimes like to shy away from outright killing kids so there might be some deus ex machina next week. Either way, stay tuned to find out! It’s been fun for the most part.
