English Dub Review: Getter Robo Arc “The Interstellar Crusade”
Overview:
The Getter crew thought they were on Earth because of the humans. Turns out these are humans that have colonized the far reaches of the galaxy. The leader of this group is Musashi Tomoe and was one of the original Getter pilots. A lot of revelations come to light to the Getter Arc crew.
Our Take:
Well if we didn’t know crusades were already bad here’s another reminder. This kind of adds to the “not knowing what is going on” from past Getter things. Musashi Tomoe was a previous pilot and I am guessing a good guy. But if this is your first introduction to the show he’s nothing but bad. Essentially doing intergalactic genocide with Getter rays from what I understood.
It definitely adds some depth and development to the characters. This person is someone they were sent to assist but what if they’re crazy? I was really happy when even Baku referred to Tomoe as “Batshit crazy”. Kamui being half-Saurian and also the Saurians that came along aren’t too happy with Tomoe’s plans. Apparently, some Getter rays will wipe out everything but humans from the Earth. But does that mean animals too? Just doesn’t seem to be thought out to me.
The beginning of this episode was just mindless fun and I think that is what the show should stick to. We got to see all three of Arc’s transformations and they were all relevant. We got to see a gigantic Getter, dubbed Getter Emperor. Think like a Getter-themed Death Star, at least that’s what it seems like to me. It is worshipped like a God but again it seems to still be a piloted machine so I don’t quite understand.
This episode threw a lot at us and I mean A LOT. It’s interesting definitely but also kind of convoluted and hard to follow. I want to like it I really do but these next few episodes will decide that. Can they wrap things up in a satisfactory way? With only three episodes left and the plotlines being introduced I am not that hopeful.
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
