English Dub Review: The Honor at Magic High School “I won’t let anyone interfere”

Overview

The terrorist group Blanche launched an all-out attack on First High School. They expected to terrify the students into submission. Instead, they provoked a very different reaction…

Meanwhile, Tatsuya Shiba and Miyuki Shiba took the fight against the enemy. It was all fun and games until one of them goes after Tatsuya. Any bets on how Miyuki reacted?

Our Take

The lesson of the day from this episode? Don’t piss off Miyuki, especially when you try and attack the people she cares about. Luckily, the students (at least some of them) were able to defend themselves. Of course, Takuya and Miyuki would take action in their own hands in this drama. A very action-packed episode as expected. Not going to lie, I’m actually impressed by how hard the students fought back.

The scale of Blanche’s assault on the school was larger than expected. The inner workings of how Tatsuya and Miyuki’s friends fared as they stormed the stronghold was also nice. Miyuki’s freezing of the Blanche members while remarking on how much she’s enjoying school with her friends really served to create quite a funny juxtaposition for that scene.

Overall, while this was a passable episode, most of the proceedings were nothing new except for a first-person view of Miyuki but the few additional scenes were fine. It wasn’t without its problems though. The pacing was sloppy, and on a consistent level, I can do without the frequent borderline incest jokes the writing itself likes to make about Miyuki & Tatsuya’s relationship. When they do happen, I can’t facepalm & cringe any harder without potentially suffering a concussion…
