OUR TAKE

Down to the final three episodes of this series and not a moment too soon. Seems that, after getting a chance to take on the strongest higher ups in Kimluck, our protagonists have gotten their collective asses totally kicked to the curb, so they’ll have to recover for this and probably the next episode to get back into a good place just in time for the finale. For Orphen, that involves nearly drowning but also somehow getting to talk with one of the beings that made magic as they know it, which I’m sure will be pretty helpful for a big final battle down the line. Majic and Claiomh are not so lucky, getting their new ally from last time to tap a connection close to the top, his brother, but that brother gets killed while doing what they asked and the rest are captured. Somehow things went from good to bad to worse, all within the scope of a single episode. I guess that’s fitting when we’re getting so close to the end, ramping up the tension by packing in so many events that keep the viewers on their toes as we inch ever closer to the end.

Things look to be resting on Orphen to save the day, considering he’s probably presumed dead, he’s no doubt off the radar of the rulers of Kimluck, who have also taken steps to seize power as the guy with the wings who is the dad of the guy Orphen killed has no taken out the hooded faceless gentleman who seemed to be the one running things at the top for the longest time. Now that Orphen has a chance to breathe and bond briefly with Azalie, with whom he has a pretty long and complicated history with, I’m sure that he’ll be using what he can to tap into this connection with the magic source to get strong enough to fight the wing guy one on one. Or at the very least find a way to depower him somehow. Honestly, I haven’t the foggiest clue where this show is going, even after covering nine episodes so far, but my knowledge of tropes and story structure are kind of guiding my speculation here. And with only two episodes left to wrap all of this stuff up, I’m sure they’ll use every single one of the fourty minutes they have to make it as satisfying as possible.
