English Dub Review: Mother of the Goddess’ Dormitory (Uncensored): “A Childhood Friend Visits the Dorm / Koushi Goes Undercover at a Women’s College”
Overview: Sutea (Juliet Simmons) inspects Koushi’s (Brittany Karbowski) home to ascertain whether it is a suitable place for him to live. Later, Atena (Christina Kelly) and Kiriya (Katelyn Barr) forget their lunches so Koushi goes undercover as a girl to deliver it to them.
Our Take: Despite it’s wash, rinse and repeat manner of making Koushi blush in the same motorboating and crotch plunging shenanigans, Goddess Dormitory doesn’t move forward without consequence and actually feels as if made considerable progress in regards to who truly has feelings for Koushi.
Sutea’s endlessly fluctuating meter of judgement of the girls is just the obvious bar of how jealous she can get and reflect what everyone knows except for Koushi. It’s a harmless and fun montage with all the girls showing off their quirky personality traits to varying degrees of success in charming Sutea. And same goes for Koushi and his genderbending dress up and the insane wackiness of all the random college girls hunting him like hyenas because they seemingly have never met any man before. The real cinematic meat on the bone is how it puts the focus on who the frontrunners are for who are the main potential adult love interests for our adolescent child, a relationship that is most assuredly still innocent in nature.
Sutea poses the question that most series take way too long to ask and, more often than not, not until the last arc or season of a show. An inquiry that pertains to what the true nature of Koushi’s relationship with Atena and Kiriya truly is. It feels good that this is already out in the open and we are not left wondering about the will-they-won’t-they of every girl at the dorm because it’s been clearly defined for us in Sutea, Atena and Kiriya. It’s also especially nice that it’s not just Atena, the girl front and center in the marketing and general plots up to this point and extends to Sutea and Kiriya as well. By no means is there any precedent for a definitive answer any time soon, but I’m rooting for Kiriya. Her and Koushi had the most tender and sweet moments as of now and I feel it was the most natural chemistry between any of them, despite the constant need to throw boobs and butts in Koushi’s face in one way or another. Although, at the end of the day, that has its own merit too, huh?
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
