English Dub Review: The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent “Lady”
Overview
Sei begins her magic training in earnest, tutored by none other than the Grand Magus himself. Commander Hawke and Liz assist Sei with learning how to be ladylike…
Our Take
Of course, being a Lady of the Kingdom, Sei is expected to uphold the integrity of the formal customs. Hawke being there for Sei at every corner (a.k.a the royal dance segment) is giving off some classic medieval romance vibes. The tea party with Elizabeth a.k.a Liz is comforting yet awkward, though the former knows the entire Summoning story.
It’s also abundantly clear that Liz is engaged with Prince Kyle and it seems that Kyle as we saw last week is pretty obsessed with this whole idea that Aira is a Saint when she clearly isn’t. So much that it concerns Liz. He didn’t make a good impression already but now, It’s clear he’s the type of jerk we the audience wish someone would put him in his place. I think it’s pretty obvious at this point that Kyle is only using Aira for political reasons. A typical spoiled brat who thinks he’s right about everything. He’s definitely going to be problematic in the future and I imagine that he’s not going to take it well when he’s finally confronted with the truth that Sei is the real Saint and not Aira.
Overall, this was another passable episode. With Sei’s magical abilities confirmed, we’re pretty much gearing into action with discovering more of what Sei can muster with the Royal Magi’s Grand Magus Yuri’s research. This potentially means the likes of magic training and practice could result in more comical reverse-harem jokes than a Fruits Basket episode. The tea party was quite the place where the ladies put their feelings to display but really didn’t feel like anything was truly resolved from it, more like niceties were exchanged. Sei’s problems toward Aira were handled in a very graceful manner. She’s in no rush to judge that Aira is a bad person or not. While she does point out that it’s very uncommon to have a fiance this young in Japan, she’s missing the point that it’s also very uncommon to have a fiance even before dating. This is obviously a systemic issue and not just an individual one…
"There are also other characters that come and go (also owned by the Warner Bros. Discovery conglomerate media company)."
Huh. Is that just referring to other characters from the show itself, or is this implying that the new season is going to have cameos from other WBD IPs
